Elena tiene un paraguas naranja. Es muy bonito y muy grande. Lo compra en el mercado de la calle Mayor.
Elena has an orange umbrella. It is very pretty and very big. She buys it at the market on calle Mayor.
Un lunes, llueve mucho en Madrid. Elena entra en el metro con su paraguas. Hay mucha gente. Sale del metro, pero sale con el paraguas de otra persona. El paraguas es también naranja, pero es pequeño.
One Monday it rains a lot in Madrid. Elena goes into the metro with her umbrella. It is very crowded. She leaves the metro, but she leaves with another person's umbrella. That umbrella is also orange, but it is small.
— ¿Qué? — dice Elena.
— What? — says Elena.
Busca a la otra persona, pero no la ve. La gente camina rápido.
She looks for the other person, but she cannot see them. People walk fast.
En casa, mira el paraguas pequeño. Tiene un nombre escrito con rotulador: «Miguel».
At home, she looks at the small umbrella. It has a name written with a marker: "Miguel".
Elena escribe una nota y la pone dentro del paraguas: «Hola, Miguel. Yo tengo tu paraguas. Tú tienes el mío. Te dejo mi número de teléfono.»
Elena writes a note and puts it inside the umbrella: "Hello, Miguel. I have your umbrella. You have mine. I'll leave you my phone number."
Al día siguiente, el teléfono suena.
The next day, the telephone rings.
— ¿Elena? Soy Miguel. Tengo tu paraguas naranja.
— Elena? This is Miguel. I have your orange umbrella.
— ¡Y yo tengo el tuyo!
— And I have yours!
Quedan en la boca del metro. Miguel lleva el paraguas naranja grande. Elena lleva el paraguas naranja pequeño.
They arrange to meet at the metro entrance. Miguel carries the big orange umbrella. Elena carries the small orange umbrella.
— Son iguales — dice Miguel.
— They are the same — says Miguel.
— No. El mío es el naranja bonito — dice Elena.
— No. Mine is the pretty orange one — says Elena.
— El mío también es bonito — dice Miguel.
— Mine is pretty too — says Miguel.
Elena sonríe.
Elena smiles.
— De acuerdo. Los dos son bonitos.
— Okay. Both are pretty.
